Born in the East of England, Janet sold her first drawing at the age of 15. Since then she has painted in watercolor whenever family life permitted. She relocated in 2001 to the island of Tenerife, (Canary Islands) known as the island of eternal spring due to its wonderful climate year round. The semi tropical surroundings and light in Tenerife opened Janet’s eyes anew to the colors around her and she decided she could capture this in French dyes on silk.
She has been painting in both watercolor and silk since then and has recently added Alcohol Ink to her growing list of mediums. She hosts painting holidays at her Tenerife home in all three mediums. For those who prefer to study alone you can buy her e-books and follow her instructions at your leisure.
Janet is also happy to undertake commissions in watercolor, alcohol ink and silk painting.
Janet has been working on lots of new designs for her mini messenger bags which she makes as far as possible from up-cycled jeans and other fabrics https://www.janetart.com/product-category/fabric-crafts/messenger-bags/
Two other sizes have been introduced; The Sarah bag which is slightly larger than the messenger and the Tote which fits comfortably under the arm. Both feature as much up-cycled denim and upholstery fabric as possible even using the waistbands, pockets and any other pieces she can manage to incorporate.
